Is this book for you?
I have been talking about this book for more than a year now. It has taken its time to get this far, and there is more to be written. The cover has gone through different Avatars, if you will but as I step back and look at the theme and the narratives that have risen out from here, there was a distinct voice that rose above the rest. And the voice is reflected in the cover.
Here is a sneak-peek into the early pages of the book -
What is it about?
Why the mystery?
Why the turmoil?
Preface
Is it a story or are the people real?
To believe that this book is merely a story would be inaccurate. It is an unusual saga of twelve main characters spanning more than 150 years. These characters emerged from encounters with individuals like them. It makes the characters in this book partially real, but only barely.
Who would you like to meet: the apparition, their spirit, or their soul?
Is it a cookbook or a novel?
All foods have stories. This book includes longer stories about special foods, so this is a food-novel.
Is this book about religion?
No. Although religion plays a part for some of its characters, this narrative does not promote any religious belief. Instead, some of the characters have very conflicting relationships with their spirituality and its cultural baggage. Discover the flaws and the merits of their choices.
**
This book is about three complicated things: people, food, and life.
It is about men and women whose lives could were ordinary by all conventional standards. Their lives overlap in time, their decisions affect others, influence their meals, their children experience the cumulative actions of their elders.
It is one story and yet there are many stories within in.
It is a story of persevering through tough times, private struggles and public crusades, about prejudice and its aftermath.
It is a tale about humans being terribly flawed. And what happens after the dust settles.
